_____________________________________________________________________________________ Roll Cage Installation Please read all instructions before starting. Always wear gloves and eye protection. Handle with extreme caution. Remove all flammables from the car. 1. IMPORTANT: Frame must be level before starting. 2. Lay rear hoop on level surface, set top hoop on rear hoop at top, and level top to bottom, tack in place. When using an X kit tack the top half in place being sure to leave room to weld around all joints including top hoop (some fitting may be required). Now select the correct height , cut rear hoop, and tack in place the bottom half of the X kit leaving room for the frame. 3. Measure back, making sure top hoop does not interfere with the windshield, then install-rear hoop into frame using hole saw. Rear hoop must be level. 4. Using door bar kit and dash bar, mark front cage hole on frame and use hole saw to install knee bars. Do not assume that what you cut off the rear hoop, you cut off the knee bars. Please retrofit each knee bar and cut off accordingly. Knee bars must be level and square or door bars will not fit. 5. Begin installing door bars. Be sure bars are level and flat. Test fit door to be sure you started in the correct place. 6. When using a Z bar kit, be sure diagonal bar is installed before adding the last horizontal bar. ROLL CAGE DETAILED INSTALLATION GUIDE 1. Level chassis before starting. 2. Decide where you want the main hoop & cut 4"w x 6"L hole through floor exposing frame the hoop should be centered in hole cut through the floor. 3. Measure forward the length of bottom door bar plus 1 ½" and cut another 4"w x 6"L hole through floor. 4. Now decide how high you want cage inside car by measuring from top of frame to the top of the halo hoop, leave room for roll bar padding. 5. Set main hoop vertically upside down on floor, using the measurement you have from step 4 mark hoop and remove tubing to achieve correct height. 6. Remove same amount from the bottom of windshield post. 7. Now for the tricky part, you'll need a sheet of plywood and two 4ft long 2"x4"s, nail one 2"X4" along the edge of the 4ft., side of the plywood then lay a straight piece of tubing next to the 2"x4" now place the dash bar & the spreader bar from the main hoop at right angle to the tube you have already in place then place another straight piece of tubing at the end of the dash bar & spreader and the nail the other 2"x4" next to this tube, find the center between the two 2"x4" and mark the spot, now you have a fixture that will allow you to assemble the windshield post to the roof halo. Place the plywood fixture vertically against a wall, now place the right w/s post upside down on the left & then the left w/s post on the right, then place the dash bar & spreader bar between the w/s post, now mark center on roof halo, then place halo on floor in front of fixture matching centers of halo and fixture, then turn w/s post equally meeting the halo, when you have accomplished this tack weld post to halo and tack dash bar in place. You should have a square assembly at this point. 8. Have someone help you set the w/s post & halo assembly in the car for a practice fit, now position main hoop in car so that it will prop the halo up, if you are satisfied that this looks okay, go on. 9. Remove w/s post and halo so that you may weld the assembly properly, it will be a good time to weld your gussets in place, do not weld the dash bar in place just yet. 10. At this time
you will need to tack weld the spreader or spreaders into position on the main hoop. When you get around to welding bottom spreader
into main hoop, don't and weld this bar right against the drive shaft tunnel, leave 1 ½" of distance between bar and tunnel so if you need some drive
shaft 11. Reinstall the assembly into the car, at this time slide your two batwing gussets part# RBG8 onto halo hoop, now install your main hoop in place and tack weld to frame and checking for plumb, then position the bottom door bars between the main hoop and w/s post, plumb and tack weld to frame, then tack weld the halo to the main hoop, when you are satisfied that everything looks right, weld the to frame and then weld halo hoop to the main hoop, after this has been completed slide batwing gussets to front of main hoop. 12. If your cage kit has rear frame braces, you may install them now. You will also have two short tubes, that help hold wedge in the car. Also you may install the shock bar and up rights now. 13. As for the engine area, install your fender and radiator bar first then fit your engine bay doglegs from w/s post to radiator bar, next you will install your diagonal stiffeners. 14. Install the door bars when all the work is completed in the car, like mounting the seat and seat belt tabs, battery box and drive shaft hoops. Helpful Hints To make it easy
to fit tubing on angles to other tubes, wrap construction paper around a piece of tubing to make a sleeve, then place tube where you
want to intersect, slide paper tube down, mark, then trim with scissors, recheck fit, then transfer fit to tube and trim, always fit tube to tube end To assist in this project, you may want: Longacre Pipemaster Tube Fitting Tools
